Gotz receives grid penalty for next race
Mercedes-Benz driver Maximilian Gotz is penalised after an accident at
DTM race at Norisring.
;
Race officials concluded that Gotz is responsible for the accident
which had happened at the start of the race at Norisring. That’s why
he is penalised with a three-position grid penalty for the first
of the next races, at Zandvoort next weekend.
;
During the race at Norisring, when the majority of the cars had already
passed the first turn, the well-known “Grundig Kehre” bottleneck, the latter half of the grid got into problems. Four drivers were involved in a
smash-up – Gotz, Timo Glock, Mike Rockenfeller and Augusto Farfus – and all of them, sooner or later, were forced to retire from the race.
;
“I was hit a bit from the behind and then, I was just too late on the
brake. This arguably was an unfortunate series of events,” told Gotz after the race.
