Reigning WTCC champion Jose Maria Lopez rejected to predict who will win races in Morocco this weekend saying that very small margins will be decisive.

Argentinian driver, who won first race at home soil in Termas de Rio Hondo, reckons the evenly matched World Touring Car Championship field means only a few hundredths of a second will separate the WTCC aces through the streets of Marrakech, with qualifying providing an early indication of just how close the chase for victory will be.

“As is often the case, qualifying will play an essential role in shaping the weekend’s events. There will only be a few hundredths of a second between the drivers competing for pole position,” said Citroen ace who claimed a win in on his Marrakech debut last year.

French manufacturer cars proved to be superior to the rest of the grid and that’s why is expected battle between Lopez, Loeb and Muller.

“As our cars are identical, it’s very difficult to overtake your team-mates in normal circumstances. More than at any other circuit, getting a good place on the grid will go a long way towards determining the result of race one. In the second race, with the reverse grid, we’ll just have to improvise!” concluded Lopez.
