Stoffel Vandoorne was confirmed as McLaren reserve driver for the Formula One 2016 campaign, but his team is looking for options to keep him sharp.

New GP2 Series champion has succeeded Kevin Magnussen as reserve driver in McLaren, but he hardly can count to get too many chances to drive next year. That’s why, Vandoorne and his team are looking for options to keep him in form.

;

“Becoming McLaren reserve driver is very nice, but I still want to keep racing in 2016. We are looking what could be the best solution as I want to keep racing on regular basis,” said the 23-year-old Belgian.

From this point of view, Japanese series Super Formula looks like most likely option for Vandoorne as McLaren has a partnership with Honda which hass strong presence in the Super Formula.

;

“Cars in Super Formula are very fast, I think faster than in GP2 Series. Power is lower, but cornering is much higher,” added Vandoorne.
