2017 Porsche Supercup season preview
The new season of Porsche Supercup starts this weekend at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with no less than 32 cars on the grid.
Into the new season with a new car
This will be the 25th anniversary of the series and again it will be one of the supporting series to Formula 1 World Championship. The main change is that all teams will race with new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. The new car has improved aerodynamics package and it is much lighter than its predecessor. The new Porsche also has a more durable engine with maximum power of 485 horsepower.

New Porsche for the new Supercup season
The season of 2017 brings more action after the number of races was increased from 10 to 11. Three circuits will host a double program after Hockenheimring and Circuit of the Americas were dropped from the calendar. The only new venue is Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez which will host the final round of the season.

Driver line-up also was changed. Reigning champion Sven Muller left the series, just as Matteo Cairoli and Mathieu Jaminet which finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in the 2016 Drivers’ Championship. The 28 drivers from 16 countries are regular entries for all races of the 2017 season but the number of represented countries surely will increase over the year knowing that there will be many guest drivers.

Dennis Olsen, Porsche Supercup driver
We will see many new faces this year. In the field of 28 drivers, 10 will be the rookies. Another new thing is that for the first time Porsche Supercup comes up with with a gentleman classification. A total of six amateur drivers will compete for the title in the new class.
The Lechner Racing Team and their driver Michael Ammermuller are figuring out as the early favorites, while the young Norwegian driver Dennis Olsen could be one to watch as he is considered as one of the hottest prospects, especially after the blistering start in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany.
