Pascal Wehrlein is returning to the DTM with Mercedes
When one door closes, another door opens. After spending two seasons with Manor and Sauber F1 teams and being replaced for the 2018 F1 season, Pascal Wehrlein is returning to Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM), the series in which he achieved his greatest success so far by winning the 2015 championship title.
Mercedes-AMG announced today that the 23-year-old driver will join them for the 2018 DTM season alongside two other former champions in their line-up: Gary Paffett and Paul di Resta. Other confirmed Mercedes drivers are Lucas Auer and Edoardo Mortara.

“I’ve got some terrific memories of the DTM, not least because of my title win in 2015, but also because of the strong team spirit and the many amazing experiences I’ve had with the guys. I’ve followed DTM closely during my time in Formula 1 and have even been to a couple of races to see the team and support them. A lot has changed in the DTM since my last race back in 2015, but I like a challenge and can hardly wait to try out our new car on the track for the first time”, Wehrlein said.
