British GT: Victories for Aston Martin and Ford at Donington Park

The fourth round of the 2019 British GT Championship takes place this weekend at Donington Park with one 2-hour race. TF Sport’s Graham Davidson and Jonny Adam scored their first win this season in the #47 Aston Martin Vantage GT3, converting pole position into victory without losing a lead except during the mid-race pitstop phase.

They shared a podium with Shaun Balfe/Rob Bell (Balfe Motorsport, #22 McLaren 720S GT3) and Sam de Haan/Jonny Cocker (Barwell Motorsport, #69 Lamborghini Huracan GT3).

Championship leaders Adam Balon and Phil Keen finished fifth in the #72 Barwell Lamborghini, retaining the lead with 104 points on their account, 8.5 points more than teammates De Haan/Cocker. Davidson/Adam progressed to the third place in the championship.

After today’s victory, Jonny Adam is equal again with Phil Keen in the all-time British GT winners’ list. They have fifteen GT3/overall wins each, although Keen has two more class wins.

In the GT4 class, the victory went to Scott Maxwell and Seb Priaulx in the #15 Ford Mustang of Multimatic Motorsports. It’s their second win of the season which secured them the top spot in the championship.

The previous leaders Dean Macdonald and Callum Pointon finished second in the #57 McLaren 570S GT4 of HHC Motorsport. One more McLaren crew completed the GT4 class podium – Lewis Proctor and Jordan Collard in Tolman Motorsport’s #5 car.

The next British GT weekend is scheduled for July 20-21 at Spa-Francorchamps.
