GP3 champion prefers DTM as new destination

GP3 Series champion and Mercedes protege Esteban Ocon still don’t know in which series he will drive next year.

French youngster is happy after extending contract with Mercedes and hope he will get a chance to step up his career. Move to GP2 series sounds like most realistic option, but Ocon has other idea.

“I still don’t know what to expect in 2016. I like DTM and if I had to chose between DTM and GP2, I will go for DTM. But, nothing has been decided yet,” said Ocon who is earlier considered as one of Mercedes’ Formula 1 test drivers, together with DTM reigning champion Pascal Wehrlein.

“That decision will make Toto Wolff, not me. I’m just happy to be part of the Mercedes team and I will be satisfied with any decision,” commented Ocon.

Esteban Ocon already had minor experience in the German touring cars series as he replaced Daniel Juncadella during pre-race events at season finale at Hockenheim.
