2015 24 Hours of Le Mans test day

The 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans is going to be great! It was obvious when all LMP1 teams announced and introduced their cars and every week there some new information about the teams, track and the race strategies. So everybody was eager to see what will happened today on official test day. We are sorry to say, but the rain spoiled plans for a full days testing, however, there was lots of fabulous moments on legendary Circuit de la Sarthe.

First, the highlight of today’s test event was Porsche and their record breaking time of 3:21:946. The fantastic 919 Hybrid race car achieved that time early into the session beating Audi’s time by few tenths of a second and breaking the record for this track configuration which is in use since 2007. Neel Jani, the Porsche factory driver in #18 car went on the track after Audis and beat their time it just before the rain started. The second and third time was achieved by R18 eTron Quattro and forth was again Porsche. The Toyota was running strong on seventh and eight spot but Nissan GT-R LM Nismo was somewhat of a disappointment on sixteenth place. The Japanese team had some technical problems and even got a car stopped on the track in a middle of a testing. We are hoping that they will sort it out until the race and the revolutionary GT-R LM Nismo will show its full potential in two weeks.

In the lower classes, the Ligier with Honda engine (LMP2) and very versatile and perspective Laurens Vanthoor had the best time and in GTE class the honors go to fantastic Chevrolet Corvette C7 R.
