2015 Blancpain Sprint Brands Hatch - practice 1&2

The third event of the 2015 Blancpain GT series has just started and its held on famous Brands Hatch track in Kent, Great Britain. It is Sprint type event which means that racers will be able to compete in short one hour race on Sunday. The 2015 Blancpain GT season has 12 eventes (6 Endurance and 6 Sprint races) and after the season opener in France (Sprint race) and Monza (Endurance), it is time for drivers to move to England and race on one of the most popular circuits in the world.

In the first free practice session for the second round of the 2015 Blancpain Sprint Series, BMW Sports Trophy Team Brasil picked up where they had left it off at the opening round in Nogaro by making the fastest time in opening round of free practice. Sergio Jimenez in BMW Z4 GT3 was fastest with time of 1:25.528 in front of Audi R8 LMS Ultra and Nissan GT-R GT3. However, the first practice session wasn’t without problems and there were two on track accidents. One involving Audi and other involving Bentley. The both cars hit tyre wall on the outside of Paddock Hill bend which was followed by red flag interruptions. Fortunately, none of the drivers were hurt but car were damaged. Here are the results:

The second free practice session started at 11:55 CET and lasted for a hour. The Nissan GT-R GT3 which has proved to be very good at sprint races was fastest this time with rookie Craig Dolby of MRS GT Racing behind the wheels. The Audis of Belgian WRT Team was second and third and the BMW Z4 GT3 was fourth and victorious BMW Sports Trophy Team Brasil was fifth this time. The session was briefly red-flagged, when Laurens Vanthoor hit the barriers in the #1 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT Audi.  Here are the full results and stay tuned for qualifying session coverage later today.
