Formula V8 3.5: Egor Orudzhev winner at Spa

Egor Orudzhev (Arden Motorsport) wins the first race of the Formula V8 3.5 at Spa-Francorchamps to become fifth different winner in five races of the season. The Russian driver was leading from start to finish, losing the lead from Tom Dillmann (AV Formula) only for short during lap 16, but he retook the first place and defends it. Dillmann finished second, ahead of Louis Deletraz (Fortec Motorsports).

Matthieu Vaxiviere earned the pole position but before the race he was penalized and stripped of from the pole. Aurelin Panis gets a first starting position but he stalled at the start and dropped to 11th. Orudzhev took the lead after Panis’ misfortune, followed by Dillmann and Rene Binder. On Lap 2 Deletraz stole the last podium spot from Binder, who finished fifth after he lost a duel against Yu Kanamaru.

Pietro Fittipaldi and Johnny Cecotto were sixth and seventh until the last lap, but few turns before the end they collided and both went off. That crash promoted Vitor Baptista to sixth place, Beitske Visser to P7 and Aurelien Panis to P8. Giuseppe Cipriani took his first points with ninth position, ahead of Alfonso Celis Jr. Vaxiviere, who started from the back of the grid, progressed to sixth place in the opening laps but later he dropped and finally retired after he went wide and damaged the car.
