DTM in Russia: Rene Rast leads Audi's 1-2 at Moscow Raceway
Rene Rast converts his third pole position of the season into his second victory today in the first race of the DTM weekend at Moscow Raceway. It’s the fourth win of the season for Audi. Mike Rockenfeller reaches a podium less than three weeks after a horrific accident at Norisring, finishing in the second place.
Two Audi drivers started from the front row after the fastest qualifier Marco Wittmann (BMW) received a five-place grid penalty because he collected three warnings earlier in the season. Rast and Rockenfeller retained their position but we saw intense fights for the third place in a podium.
Several drivers were holding P3 during the 55-minute race at 3.9-km long Russian circuit. At the end, Marco Wittmann reaches his second podium of the season, ahead of Robert Wickens (Mercedes).
Timo Glock (BMW) completed the top 5. Other point scorers are Lucas Auer (Mercedes), Gary Paffett (Mercedes), Mattias Ekstrom (Audi), Jamie Green (Audi) and Nico Muller (Audi).
