Lando Norris (Carlin) wins the first race of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship weekend at Nürburgring. It’s the victory number eight for the British driver of the #31 Dallara-Volkswagen in the eight round of the championship. Jake Hughes (Hitech) and Joey Mawson (Van Amersfoort Racing) completed a podium.
In the qualifying, Norris secured the pole position for the eighth time this season, easily converting his starting position into new victory. He crossed the finish line 17.5 seconds ahead of Hughes. Further eighteen seconds back, several drivers fought for the third place. Joey Mawson was under attacks of Callum Ilott but on the last lap Tadasuke Makino jumped to P4.
Other point scorers in the top 10 are Ferdinand Habsburg, Jehan Daruvala, Mick Schumacher, Guanyu Zhou and Joel Eriksson. Second-placed driver in the championship Maximilian Günther finished in the 13th place, not scoring points. Norris increased his gap over Günther to 36 points with two more races at Nürburgring scheduled for tomorrow.
