Formula 3: One more victory for Lando Norris at Spa
Lando Norris (Carlin) rounds the successful Formula 3 weekend at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps with his second win at the iconic Belgian Grand Prix circuit and the fifth win of the season in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship.
Norris was the fastest qualifier for all three races but he was guilty for the incident in the yesterday’s Race 2 so he was demoted to the fourth starting spot in today’s Race 3, behind Callum Ilott, Guanyu Zhou and Maximilian Günther. On the opening lap, Zhou took the lead ahead of Günther while Ilott dropped to P4. In the next few laps, Günther dropped to P4 and then he was attacked by Jake Hughes. After a contact, the young German hit the fence hard and forced the Safety car intervention.
Fortunately, the championship leader was unscathed but he lost an opportunity to fight for new points. At the restart on lap 7, Lando Norris overtook Zhou and after that stayed in the lead until the checkered flag. Behind his back there were lots of position changes.
The man on a mission was Joel Eriksson (Motopark). Like yesterday, he made a huge progress from P10 to P2. On the last lap, Guanyu Zhou stole the last podium spot from his Prema teammate Callum Ilott. Other point scorers are Jehan Daruvala, Ferdinand Habsburg, Ralf Aron, Mich Schumacher, Harrison Newey and Joey Mawson.
