6 Hours of Shanghai - quali: Again front row for Porsche 919 Hybrids
Porsche Team set one more 1-2 qualifying result in the qualifying session for 6 Hours of Shanghai, the penultimate round of World Endurance Championship. They maintained perfect pole record with fastest qualifying times in all six 6-Hours races this season.
The fastest drivers at Shanghai Circuit were Mark Webber and Brendon Hartley in #17 Porsche 919 Hybrid, with an average lap time of 1:42.719s. Hartley, who has been the quickest driver for most of the meeting, set an outright best of 1:42.621s to lay the foundations of a convincing pole. Webber added the lap time 1:42.818s, so they took the pole with 0.769s faster time than sister car #18 of Marc Lieb and Romain Dumas.
Audi will line up third and fourth on the grid, with two Toyota prototypes behind them. The fastest of three LMP1 Privateer prototypes was #12 Rebellion Racing R-One driven by Dominik Kraihamer and Alexandre Imperatori. LMP2 pole was claimed for the third successive race by Sam Bird and Julien Canal in the #26 G-Drive Ligier-Nissan. The G-Drive Racing Ligier was almost six tenths of a second quicker than the title rival KCMG Oreca 05-Nissan.
The AF Corse Ferrari 458s took a 1-2 in LMGTE Pro qualifying, with reigning World Champions Gianmaria Bruni and Toni Vilander taking their second pole position of 2015 in the #51 Ferrari, 0.265s ahead of teammates James Calado and Davide Rigon in the #71 car. The #99 Aston Martin Racing Vantage of Alex MacDowall and Fernando Rees will start from second row, together with #92 Manthey Racing Porsche 911 RSR of Patrick Pilet and Fred Makowiecki.
Aston Martin Racing’s cars #98 and #96 took the front row in LMGTE Am class. Paul Dalla Lana and Pedro Lamy scored their 4th pole position of the 2015 season. Their team-mates Stuart Hall and Liam Griffin were just 0.130s slower. The #50 Larbre Competition Chevrolet Corvette of Gianluca Roda and Paolo Ruberti will start from second row, with #83 AF Corse Ferrari of Francois Perrodo and Emmanuel Collard in 4th place.
