ADAC GT Masters: Double Pole Position for Mercedes at Spa 2015
Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 won pole positions for both ADAC GT Masters races at Spa. Sebastian Asch and Luca Ludwig (Team Zakspeed) will start from pole position on Saturday, while Harald Proczyk and Bernd Schneider (HP Racing) will be the leaders at the start of Sunday’s race.
The experienced motorsport veteran, 50-years-old Schneider, had an excellent debut in the ADAC GT Masters. Former DTM champion also set a new record running a round-section 182 km/h, the fastest ever driven in the ADAC GT Masters.
Before Schneider secured double pole position for Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3, Sebastian Asch impressed taking a first starting position at “Ardennes rollercoaster”. Driver of the championship overall standings leading pair was the fastest in the first qualifying round leaving Jens Klingmann (BMW Sports Team Schubert) 0.159 seconds behind. Third was Martin Ragginger (GW IT Racing Team Schutz Motorsport) in Porsche with a gap of 0.437 seconds and another place in the second row at the start of Saturday’s race secured Stefan Wackerbauer of C.Abt Racing team.
Second qualifying round of ADAC GT Masters at Spa-Francrchamps also was very close as Schneider was just 0.192 seconds faster than Uwe Alzen (BMW Sports Trophy Team Schubert). His BMW Z4 GT3 team mate Dirk Baumann was third and Luca Ludwig confirmed excellent day after his pairing in Team Zakspeed’s #21 secured first place in the previous session.
First race of ADAC GT Masters will start on Saturday at 12.00 CET and the second is on Sunday, again at 12.00 CET and it will be interesting to see if BMW could beat Mercedes SLS AMG when it really matters in another motorsport spectacle.
