One of the most interesting racing series in the world – the Blancpain GT series will be organizing a fantastic event this weekend at the world famous Spa circuit in Belgium.

The event will be 24 hours long and will be the ultimate endurance race for fans of GT3 racing throughout the world. The Spa 24 Hours is  a massive event and almost 60 cars have been enlisted with more than 200 drivers. Because this race is so big, there are a lot of preparations on and off track all through the week with the first track event on Tuesday in the form of the Bronze Test.

The first track outing saw the fastest time set by Aston Martin (2’21.935) but we can be sure that times will go down as we approach the qualifying session and final preparations for the race. A total of 42 cars participated in the Bronze test and it went without any incidents.

Wednesday saw the traditional parade at 4pm, with all cars travelling on public roads from the Francorchamps track towards the town centre. All drivers will then participate in an hour long autograph session from 5pm to 6pm, after which they will attend to the drivers briefing in the Casino of Spa.

Thursday sees plenty of track action, with the 90-minute Free Practice Session starting at noon, before the hour-long Pre-Qualifying session starts at 17.40. The day ends with two qualifying sessions, the first lasting 75 minutes from 20.00 and a 120-minute session starting at 21.45. The 20 fastest cars after the combined qualifying sessions will go through to the Superpole on Friday afternoon.

So stay tuned for more information this evening about today’s events.
