Citroen beats Honda in WTCC qualifying at Hungaroring
Citroen cars will start from the pole position in both rounds of WTCC Race of Hungary, thanks to Jose Maria Lopez being fastest in the qualifying round, while Mehdi Bennani won the reverse pole for the opening race.
Lopez starts from pole in the main race
The Argentinian ace behind the wheel of Citroen C-Elysee was six-tenths of a second faster than Chevrolet driver Tom Coronel in the last qualifying round. Honda drivers Ron Huff and Tiago Monteiro will start from the row two in the main race on Sunday while Thed Bjork in Volvo clinched the fifth starting position, what is his best starting position in his WTCC career so far.

Bennani clinches pole position for the opening race
The Moroccan driver of Sebastien Loeb Racing’s Citroen secured pole position for the opening race on Sunday. He will be accompanied by Fredrik Ekblom in Volvo while Yvan Muller and Nick Catsburg will be behind them in row two.
Citroen completes a perfect day with an MAC3 success
At the end, Citroen closed the day with a victory in MAC3 and won more points for the manufacturers championship. Lopez, Muller, and Bennani were 0.174s faster than Honda’s trio Huff, Michelisz, and Monteiro while Tarquini, Catsburg, and Valente in the Lada Vestas were 1.49s slower.
