DTM: Wehrlein wins the race full of incidents

Pascal Wehrlein was the winner of 11th race of DTM championship. Mercedes driver won the Saturday race in Moscow to take the lead in the championship overall standings from Mattias Ekstrom who failed to finish the race which was interrupted twice.

For the first time this season, reigning champion Marco Wittmann had pole position and managed to keep it after the start ahead of Pascal Wehrlein and Jamie Green, but the race was stopped after a huge crash at turn 1 in which Christian Vietoris and Miguel Molina were involved. Safety car was deployed and after the restart drivers had less than 30 minutes for proper racing.

But, after couple of minutes safety car was sent out once again. Championship leader Mattias Ekstrom and Timo Glock had a contact in the battle for fourth, but both went out of the track, finishing in the tyre barriers.

After another restart, only 13 minutes remained until the end of the race, but those were quite interesting 13 minutes as the gaps between the top five were very tight. With four minutes to go, Wehrlein took the lead from Wittmann and secured his second victory in the season, while in the ultimate meters Green lost third place from Bruno Spengler.

Jamie Green finished fourth, Daniel Juncadella was fifth, while the remaining points are scored by Edoardo Mortara, Gary Paffett, who started from 20th position, Tom Blomqvist, Nico Muller and Mike Rockenfeller.
