F3 Euro: Three different polemen in three races at Algarve

Three different drivers secured pole positions for three F3 European Championship races at Autodromo Internacional do Algarve this weekend. Jake Dennis (Prema Powerteam) will start from P1 in first race on Saturday morning, Alexander Albon (Signature) was fastest in qualifying for Race 2 on Saturday afternoon and Felix Rosenqvist (Prema Powerteam) took first place at starting grid of Race 3 on Sunday morning.

It is first event of FIA Formula 3 European Championship at 4.684-km long track near Portimao. Jake Dennis secured himself premiere pole position ahead two team-mates Nick Cassidy and Lance Stroll. Behind Prema’s trio Markus Pommer (Motopark), Alexander Albon and Charles Leclerc (Van Amersfoort Racing) occupied fourth to sixth place. Current championship leader Antonio Giovinazzi (Jagonya Ayam with Carlin) qualified ninth for Race 1.

In second qualifying session drivers were fighting for position on the grid for two races. The best lap time determine positions for Race 2 and the second best lap time define the grid for Race 3. Alexander Albon was fastest, just 0.027 seconds faster than Felix Rosenqvist. Nick Cassidy and Lance Stoll  will start from second row, ahead Jake Dennis and Antonio Giovinazzi.

Ranking of the second-fastest laps was completely different. Rosenqvist was fastest and Albon was just 12th. Lance Stroll will share front row with Rosenqvist, Jake Dennis and George Russell (Carlin) will be in a Row 2 and Gustavo Menezes (Jagonya Ayam with Carlin) and Mikkel Jensen (kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport) took the spots in a Row 3.
