Two months before the start of the DTM season, Audi had tests in Portugal, at Portimao track. Mike Rockenfeller and Mattias Ekstrom, with youngster Nico Muller as a backup, tested RS5 DTM through their paces and now have only two test days permitted before the start of the season in May.

While it is still winter in Germany, the DTM hopes to have perfect conditions in the south of Europe. Audi had three busy days in Portugal, with eight hours lasting schedule of tests at demanding track everyday.

“Even with its bumps, Portimao is fantastic track, with fast corners and with high G forces. Last time being here was very good for us. This test is very important for us, even the cars in DTM had not changed since last year“, told Rockenfeller.

“In DTM we have just few tests, so every of them is very important, even it is all about details. We will try to refine set-up, get as many as possible laps and to learn“, says 2013 champion.

Audi is the only manufacturer with an unchanged drivers line-up for the 2015 and also has the team assignment retained from the previous year. Mattias Ekstrom, Miguel Molina, Edoardo Mortara and Adrien Tambay  start at Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline, Timo Scheider and Mike Rockenfeller in the Audi Sport Team Phoenix, Jamie Green and Nico Muller in the Audi Sport Team Rosberg.
Other two manufacturers involved in the DTM also will have tests in southwest Portugal before the start of the season.
