Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup: Barnicoat wins at Le Mans

Ben Barnicoat secured one more victory for Fortec Motorsports today at Circuit Bugatti Le Mans. After Oliver Rowland won FR 3.5 Series race earlier today, Barnicoat was the fastest in Race 1 of Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup. It was Barnicoat’s second win in a row, after scoring first place at the previous race at Nürburgring.

;

Barnicoat won ahead of Kevin Jörg and Louis Deletraz (both Josef Kaufmann Racing) in race which was shortened one lap before the end with a red flag, after Darius Oskoui (ART Junior Team) stopped in Turn 10.  Barnicoat started from third place on the grid and immediately jumped to the lead, over polesitter Jord and his teammate Deletraz. Jack Aitken (Koiranen GP) defended his fourth place and remained there until the end, as well as Ukyo Sasahara (ART Junior Team) in fifth place.

;

Position 6 was taken by Dennis Olsen (Manor MP Motorsport) at the start but in the Lap 12 he lost the battle against Anthoine Hubert (Tech 1 Racing). He was also fighting against Matevos Isaakyan (JD Motorsport) and they touched each other, so Isaakyan pitted and retired. Ignazio D’Agosto (Manor MP Motorsport), Valentin Hasse-Clot (Strakka Racing) and Martin Kodrić (Fortec Motorsports) rounded Top 10.

Louis Deletraz remained in the lead of championship standings, but now with just two points ahead of Kevin Jorg. Jack Aitken is further nine points down. One more race at Le Mans is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.
