GP2: Evans wins sprint race in Sakhir

Russian Time driver Mitch Evans is the winner of GP2 Series sprint race held on Saturday at Bahrain International Circuit.

After taking third place on Friday, driver from New Zealand claimed victory, second of the season, so he still have a chance to finish season in the top three of the championship overall standings.

Evans had excellent race as he started from sixth position, he looked very confident, had solid advantage after taking leading position and finished the race 1.8s ahead of champion Stoffel Vandoorne. DAMS driver Alex Lynn had a pole position, but he had to settle on third, some 17.5s behind Evans.

Vandoorne earlier secured Drivers’ championship title, Alexander Rossi is well behind him on second place, while Sergey Sirotkin, Rio Haryanto and Mitch Evans will try to do their best in the last two races to finish in top three.

Last two races also will give us answer who will take second and third place in the Teams’ championship, after ART Grand Prix won the title on Friday.Racing Engineering is on the way to finish the season as runner-up, while DAMS and Campos Racing are the rival in the battle for third.
