Japanese Super Formula: Hiroaki Ishiura won at Twin Ring Motegi
The fourth round of the Japanese Championship Super Formula took place yesterday at the Twin Ring Motegi. Championship leader Hiroaki Ishiura (P.MU/Cerumo-Inging) was the fastest in the qualifying rounds and through the 52-lap-long race. With another 11 points, he managed to extend his championship lead over Joao Paulo Lima de Oliveira (Lenovo Team Impul). Ishiura has 32 points, seven more than De Oliveira.
De Oliveira ended third at the finish line, behind Ishiura and Kazuki Nakajima (Petronas Tom’s). All three were driving Toyota RI4A single-seaters, same as the fourth placed Andre Lotterer (Petronas Tom’s). Fastest driver in Honda HR-414E car was Daisuke Nakajima (Nakajima Racing) at fifth place. A total of 18 drivers raced at Twin Ring Motegi. Among them were two ex-Formula 1 drivers – Narain Karthikeyan finished 9th and Kamui Kobayashi finished 17th.
Behind the leader Ishiura and runners-up De Oliveira there were Kazuki Nakajima (24 points) and Andre Lotterer (20 points). Three more rounds are scheduled until the end of the season – at Autopolis and Sportsland Sugo, with finale at Suzuka in November.
