Loeb wins second race at Termas
Winner of the second race of the World Touring Car Championship at Termas de Rio Hondo Circuit in Argentina is Sebastien Loeb, driver of the Citroen Racing team.
James Thompson had pole position at the start of the second race, but he couldn’t keep it for long. Ma and Loeb in Citroen quickly overtake him leaving Tom Coronel at third. Loeb took the lead in second round, but soon after safety car get out on the track after Stefano D’Aste and James Thompson slided out of track.
This was really bad day for Lada Sport because Robert Huff also had to withdraw after technical difficulties, leaving Honda tandem in chase for dominant Citroens. Lopez stepped from 10th to fourth and soon moved up to second, with 1.12 seconds behind leadng Loeb. Yvann Muller struggled to overtake Monteiro at fifth, but after he managed to do that in eughth round, he had more space to catch-up his teammates at the top.
Frenchman caused a small crash with Bennani in 11th lap sending Moroccan at the back of the grid, but Muller soon had to go to pit which resulted with his fall on 12th place. At the top, Loeb succeeded to retain first place in front of Lopez who didn’t want to risk anything in last few laps, so defended second place without problems in front of two Hondas of Monteiro and Tarquini.
Mehdi Bennani finished fifth, Norbert Michelisz again was solid taking sixth place, while the other drivers in the points zone were Ma Qing Hua, Tom Chilton, Rikard Rydell and Gregoire Demoustier.
