Lopez fastest in Marrakech testing

Jose Maria Lopez’s impressive start of the WTCC title defence continued when he went fastest in testing for the Race of Morocco at street circuit in Marrakech.

Citroen Racing’s championship leader isn’t getting carried away with his performance after he set best time on his final flying lap.

“It’s just testing, there is still a long way to go. I always try every time I am in the car, we had a good feeling and a good set-up“, said Lopez after test session.

Argentinian ace was 0.581 seconds faster than his teammate Yvan Muller, while local hero Mehdi Bennani. Hugo Valente impressed with the fourth best time in his Campos Racing Chevrolet, Citroen’s Ma Qing Hua had a fifth best time despite a spin, and leading Honda driver was Tiago Monteiro at sixth.

Testing took place in a sunny and dry conditions and same is expected for Saturday morning for the first Free Practice.
