Honda driver Tiago Monteiro is the winner of the WTCC race 2 in Thailand. The Portuguese driver had a good race, took the lead in lap 3 and stayed on top until the race was stopped with two laps to go.

Norbert Michelisz was on pole position for race 2 at Buriram, while Tiago Monteiro, Tom Chilton, Nick Catsburg and Hugo Valente were behind Honda’s Hungarian driver. This race was more important for the Yokohama Drivers Trophy as the battle for the title is very tight.

This wasn’t the day for Yvan Muller as he retired in lap 1 again. Monteiro took the lead in lap 3, but Loeb was the one to watch as he quickly went up to second position. Michelisz struggled after his car evidently wasn’t fully recovered after an accident in race 1, he also got a drive-through penalty, and soon he was out of the race.

In a very intense battle, Lopez moved up to fourth overtaking Chilton and Tarquini, but was too far from Monteiro, Loeb and Ma who were in top three. But, in the lap 12, race was stopped because of the low light and Monteiro clinched his third win this season. Loeb and Ma were second and third respectively.
