The introduction of new F1 qualifying format delayed
Bernie Ecclestone said that the introduction of the new Formula 1 qualifying format will be delayed because of technical issues.
Earlier this week it was announced that the new look of qualifying will be introduced from the start of 2016 season, but now it looks like it will be delayed until the fifth race of the season, the Spanish Grand Prix, said Formula 1’s commercial supremo.
The system is not fully prepared
The reason is that the software which controls the timing system need some changes and won’t be ready for the start of the season in Australia.
“My guys who do the timing said ‘Mr E, we don’t want to be put in the position because we don’t think we can get it done properly in time’,” Ecclestone told the BBC.
Under the new procedure of Formula 1 qualifying, the slowest drivers will be eliminated as the three sessions progress rather than at the end of each round.
