Audi factory driver Jamie Green has to skip the DTM weekend at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Italy due to illness. He will be watching races from a hospital where he is laying because of acute appendicitis.

His replacement in Team Rosberg’s Audi RS5 would be the 22-year-old Brazilian Pietro Fittipaldi, who raced for customer team WRT in the first two DTM rounds and originally wasn’t planning to race at Misano.

“The symptoms appeared all of a sudden during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. We all wish Jamie a speedy recovery. He’ll definitely not be fit for racing again this weekend, so we’re happy that Pietro is able to stand in for him on such short notice,” says Head of Audi Motorsport Dieter Gass.

“For us, Pietro is the best solution. He knows the car and showed strong performances in his first two DTM events,” Dieter Gass added. In the first two rounds, Fittipaldi scored points both at Hockenheim and Zolder but also set the new lap record at Hockenheim.

There would be one more change on the DTM grid at Misano. The Italian MotoGP star Andrea Dovizioso, who rides for Ducati, will drive the #34 Audi RS5 Turbo for the Audi Sport Team WRT. The Ducati factory driver has prepared for his DTM adventure in the simulator and at a two-day test in Misano.

“This is a completely new experience for me. The Audi RS 5 DTM has such incredible power and downforce – you can really feel it in the fast corners. The racing line is completely different than for a bike and it’s tricky to find the limit. I’m really looking forward to the weekend and I just want to enjoy it – without any expectations, because the level of competition in this championship is extremely high,” Dovizioso said.

Last year, the 4.226-kilometer race track at the Adriatic coast hosted two night races. This time, both races will be run in daylight at the usual time of 13.30 CEST.
