Renault stops engine delivery to F1 teams
Renault’s chairman and chief executive officer Carlos Ghosn has announced that French manufacturer will not supply engines to Formula 1 teams anymore.
;
“We have already alerted the F1 authorities and told them: ‘Don’t count on us as a provider of an engine – it’s over,” said Ghosn and added that there is a possibility of complete retirement from Formula 1 or overtaking one of the teams. He was most probably talking about Lotus which is in financial trouble.
;
“Our future is the subject of detailed analysis and renegotiating. We will either exit or run our own team. We don’t have a clear decision yet.”
;
Renault’s decision will affect Red Bull Racing which is intensively looking for new engine supplier. Ghosn also said that he is hurt wth comments coming from Red Bull during the last few months.
“Unfortunately, when we were winning championships, the Renault name was never mentioned. It was the team that was winning. So we started to feel the return on this investment was very weak,” he told.
