V8 Supercars – SKYCITY Triple Crown Darwin qualifying and race 3

The third and final race of this weekends V8 Supercars in Darwin was held on Sunday but it was preceded by qualification session. After the fantastic driving and track record by David Reynolds during the practice sessions, he was back again with pole position for main race. It was his first pole position since 2013.

The grid was hot since the temperature was over 34 degrees and drivers were up for long 200 kilometers and 70 laps race. Most of the grid started on soft rubber expect for Polestar Volvo cars which started on hard. It proved good decision but it didn’t bring them any real advantage. The start of the race went without incidents but there was numerous little dings and off track excursions but nothing serious.

After start of the race, David Reynolds was passed by Fabian Coulthard, however, after 12 laps Reynolds claimed first spot again. Very soon, Raynolds had his mistake when he went of the track trying to avoid Nissan. However, he rejoined and managed to win the race with Chaz Mostert and Fabian Coulthard very close behind.
