This weekend’s main race of Wilson Security Sandown 500 was a pretty special event. Not just because it was the first endurance race after a long run of shorter sprint races but because it was a really intense race with unsuspected turns and memorable moments.

Qualifying Race 2

The race started 13:25 and finished 16:55 local time. In 3,5 hours main driver and co-driver have passed 500 kilometers during 161 laps. The start was decent because none of the drivers was willing to risk making an incident on the start of such a long race. The defending champion Jamie Whincup with his co-driver Paul Dumbrell led for the majority of the race but then, a routine pit stop went wrong and they got a punctured tire, falling back to 15th place in a disastrous case of bad luck. However, this was a gift for Pepsi Max Crew and Mark Winterbottom with co-driver Steve Owen. They finished first with their teammates Chaz Mostert and Cameron Waters on second place. This win secured Winterbottom’s lead in overall championship standings for 2015 season. Click HERE for full results.
