The 2016 Blancpain GT Series will end this weekend in Barcelona. This year we will get the Sprint champion and also the Series overall winner.

Enzo Ide has a good advantage

Enzo Ide and Christopher Mies are the Sprint Cup leaders but Mies will miss the last round of the season. However, Ide doesn’t have to worry about that, because Robin Frijns will come as a substitute for Mies. Enzo Ide is 17 points ahead of HTP Motorsport’s Maxi Buhk and Dominik Baumann but their teammates Bernd Schneider and Jules Szymkowiak are just three points behind.

The Endurance Cup champions Rob Bell and Alvaro Parente also want to win the title, but their chances are pretty small since they are 23 points behind Ide. However, everyone should keep in mind that Bell is extremely motivated because he will get a chance to clinch the overall Blancpain GT Series title.

Buhk and Baumann are the favorites for the overall title

The British driver has only five points less than Buhk and Baumann, but still, both of them are in better shape and many people see them as the potential title contenders. The last title contender was Laurens Vanthoor. The driver of Belgian Audi Club Team WRT is a reigning champion and he will push to the limits to defend his crown, even though he is 29 points behind but there will be a total of 34 points to grab.

HTP Motorsport

HTP Motorsport can win two Teams’ Championship titles

In the Sprint Cup Teams’ Championship, HTP Motorsport leads with 90 points and has a solid advantage in comparison with Belgian Audi Club Team WRT and Garage 59, so it will be a surprise if they fail to win the title.

HTP Motorsports also leads the Blancpain GT Series overall standings with 160 points. Belgian Audi Club Team WRT is 14 points behind while Garage 59 has 130 points and will need a huge amount of luck to beat the rivals.

However, everything is set for the season finale with 35 cars on the grid. The outcome could potentially be surprising as it was in the Endurance Cup last weekend when Garage 59’s car won the title.

The qualifying race of the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup will go on Sunday 09:15 CET while the main race starts at 14:10 CET.
