Ferrari Challenge - Jerez: Victory for local hero Alex Palou
The GP3 Series regular Alex Palou wins the second race of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli at Jerez circuit in front of his home crowd. For the 19-year-old Spanish racer it was a debut participation in the European edition of the Ferrari’s one-make series.
Palou crossed the finish line with 8.105sec advantage over Philipp Baron. Björn Grossmann, who reached back-to-back title with Saturday’s victory, finished third in Sunday’s race. Sam Smeeth finished fourth overall and the best among Am drivers, confirming his 2016 class title.
In the second race of the Coppa Shell class, Thomas Löfflad won the race and secured the 2016 championship title with one more round in the calendar, the Ferrari Challenge Finali Mondiali at Daytona. Renato di Amato and Fons Scheltema completed the podium.
