Ferrari Challenge: Grossmann fastest in Sochi, class win for Atoev and Scheltema
The first race of Ferrari Challenge Europe fourth round is being held on Saturday at Sochi Autodrom and was marked by a triumph of 17-year-old Russian driver.
Pirelli AM class
Vladimir Atoev won the Pirelli AM class race on his debut in the series. He took advantage from the accident between pole sitter Sam Smeeth and Alexey Basov right after the start. Atoev managed to keep leading position and win the race in front of Smeeth and John Farano.
Trofeo Pirelli
In the main class of the series, Bjorn Grossmann took the lead early in the race and over the race stretched his lead to triumph 6.729s ahead of his Octane 126 teammate Fabio Leimer. Third place went to Basov who finished almost 22 seconds behind.
Coppa Shell
Finally, in the Coppa Shell class triumphed Fons Scheltema. The Kessel Racing’s driver won the close battle with his teammate Rick Lovat while Kriton Lendoudis of Motor Service completed the podium, finishing 6.325s behind Scheltema.
The Ladies Cup went to Deborah Mayer (Scuderia Niki) who notched up a career best result finishing at 10th place.
