Formula 3 at Pau: George Russell converts pole into his first victory

George Russell earns another victory for Hitech GP today at the street circuit in Pau, by winning the second race of the third round of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship. Russell converts his pole position into first victory this season, to become the seventh different winner in eight races.

Sergio Sette Camara (Motopark) and Callum Ilott (Van Amersfoort Racing) competed for the podium. Camara started from third and jumped to the second place immediately after the start while Ilott dropped from second to fourth. Alessio Lorandi (Carlin) was running third until Lap 8, when he was forced to pit because of left rear puncture.

The race was stopped two times after Pedro Piquet and Harrison Newey parked their cars into the barriers. Ben Barnicoat, Russell’s teammate and the winner of the first race at the 2.76-km street circuit, finished fifth in the second race, behind Lance Stroll (Prema Powerteam). Ralf Aron (Prema Powerteam), Anthoine Hubert (Van Amersfoort Racing), Mikkel Jensen (Mucke Motorsport), Joel Eriksson (Motopark) and Arjun Maini (ThreeBond with T-Sport) take places between 6th and 10th to earn some points in the overall standings.
