Roy Nissany (Lotus) takes his maiden victory in the Formula V8 3.5 today at Silverstone, in the ninth race of the 2016 season. After three podiums in the previous races, the 21-year-old Israeli driver finally reached the top podium spot after an exciting battle against Egor Orudzhev (Arden Motorsport), which culminated with a collision on Lap 16. Both drivers continued to drive, but Orudzhev dropped to the end of the field while Nissany took the leading position.

Prior to decisive lap 16, both Orudzhev and Nissany overtook the poleman Matthieu Vaxiviere (SMP Racing) immediately after the start. In the following fifteen laps they extended their advantage to more than ten seconds ahead of Vaxiviere, before Nissany attacked Orudzhev and they collided. Both cars went off the track and spun. Nissany resumed as the leader, few meters ahead of Vaxiviere, while Orudzhev dropped to seventh place and eventually retired.

Vaxiviere finished second, ahead of Rene Binder. The series leader Tom Dillmann finished fourth, ahead of Aurelien Panis. Pietro Fittipaldi, Yu Kanamaru, Vitor Baptista, Beitske Visser and Louis Deletraz completed the top 10.

One more Formula V8 race is scheduled for tomorrow.
