V8 Supercars - SVG wins Jason Richards Memorial Trophy

  • Shane van Gisbergen

Mark Winterbottom and Jamie Whincup are the winners of the V8 Supercars championship races held on Sunday at Pukekohe Park Raceway, but Shane van Gisbergen was the hero of the day as he became the first New Zealander who won the Jason Richards Memorial Trophy.

With a bit of luck, Winterbottom won the first 100 km race of the day. The reigning champion profited from the collision of two Red Bull’s cars of Whincup and SVG, and scored his second victory of the season. Team Penske’s Scott Pye finished 2nd while Shane van Gisbergen completed the podium in the first race.
