Fittipaldi from lights to flag in the Formula V8 3.5 season opener
It was an easy job for Pietro Fittipaldi. The 20-year-old Brazilian driver of the #4 Lotus wins the season-opening race of the renamed World Series Formula V8 3.5 at Silverstone after starting from pole and leading for entire race.
After 24 laps, Fittipaldi has 0.749sec advantage over Egor Orudzhev (SMP Racing). Alfonso Celis Jr (Fortec Motorsports) completed a podium, after stealing third place from Matevos Isaakyan few laps before the end of the race. Rene Binder, who started from P2, finished in the fifth place.
At the end of the race the car of Orudzhev was disqualified by the stewards after it was found to be underweight in post-race scrutineering. The team appealed the decision, so the results stand still, pending appeal.
One more Formula V8 3.5 race at Silverstone is scheduled for tomorrow morning.
