Maiden Formula V8 victory for Alfonso Celis

A Mexican driver Alfonso Celis Jr. scored his maiden Formula V8 3.5 victory today at Spa-Francorchamps, in the opening races of the second round of the 2017 World Series Formula V8 3.5 season. Sahara Force India F1 Team’s development driver and current racer of Fortec Motorsports claimed his first Formula V8 win in his third full season in the series.

Celis started from pole and stayed in the lead for 21 laps, beating RP Motorsport’s Roy Nissany by 2.929 seconds. Egor Orudzhev (SMP Racing) finished in the third place. Pietro Fittipaldi, a double winner at Silverstone’s season-opening round, started from the front row but dropped from P2 to P10 in the opening lap. Later he fought back and finished 8th. In tomorrow’s race, Fittipaldi will start from pole.
