Jean-Karl Vernay is the TCR International Series champion for 2017. The French driver of the Leopard Racing Team WRT’s Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR claimed the title by finishing third in the first race of the season’s finale at Dubai Autodrome. Vernay built an advantage bigger than 25 points ahead of Attila Tassi to celebrate his triumph even before the last race of the season later same day.

Pepe Oriola (Lukoil Craft Bamboo) has won the first race at Dubai Autodrome, after a fantastic start that propelled him from fourth in the grid to first, ahead of pole sitter Gordon Shedden. The Scottish BTCC regular is a guest driver for Leopard Racing this weekend. Oriola and Shedden stayed in front for entire race, taking two top podium spots.

Vernay took third place on the last lap, overtaking James Nash (Lukoil Craft Bamboo). Attila Tassi (M1RA Racing) finished fifth, missing an opportunity to extend a championship fight to last race.

Stefano Comini has won the second race at Dubai and the last race of the season, almost taking the second place in the final standings from Attila Tassi, who ended tenths to score a single point. At the end, after twenty races, Tassi collected one point more than Comini. Gianni Morbidelli (WestCoast Racing) and Josh Files (M1RA) completed a podium in the Race 2.
