Pascal Wehrlein is gaining experience in DTM and says he is ready to replace Lewis Hamilton or Nico Rosberg in Formula 1 if it is needed.

The  Mercedes reserve driver is showing great potential in the German touring cars series, but is also on duty for Mercedes on Formula 1 test days. Time seems to be working in his favour and the young German is ready to wait for his step to the higher stage.

“Now I just have to concentrate on my DTM duties and try to improve my performances as there are other people making the decisions. I definitely like DTM. This is my second year in the championship, so I know everyone in the team and now we are performing better. We are able to fight for race wins and podiums. But, Formula 1 is definitely my main goal,” Wehrlein said.

“In this moment of time I am prepared to replace Lewis Hamilton or Nico Rosberg if they are unable to race. I like to be involved and always keep my knowledge about the car and how the things works. If something would happen I would be ready to jump in the driver’s  seat,” said the young German driver.
