Formula Renault 2.0 NEC: Too much rain for racing
The second race of the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup at Spa-Francorchamps didn’t start in racing mode because of terrible weather conditions. After 15 minutes of cruising around of the 7-km track behind the Safety Car, the race was stopped and a decision was made to count the results according to the qualifying scores and the starting grid with only half of the points rewarded. So, championship leader Louis Deletraz (Josef Kaufmann Racing) gained one more victory, his fifth of the 2015 season and remained in the lead.
Deletraz inceased the lead over his teammate Kevin Jörg, who finished third and is now 44 points behind Deletraz. Second in the race was Saturday’s winner Max Defourny (ART Junior team). The 16-year-old was on the podium twice this weekend on his home track. He also got the trophy for the best Rookie again and is 7,5 points in the overall standings ahead of the other rookies.

The fourth place went to Alex Gill (Fortec Motorsports) before Ukyo Sasahara (ART Junior Team) and Jehan Daruvala (Fortec Motorsports). In seventh spot was Darius Oskoui (ART Junior Team) ahead of Callan O’Keeffe (Fortec Motorsports). Newcomer Kevin Kleveros (Prizma Motorsport) dropped out due to technical problems. Ferdinand Habsburg (Fortec Motorsports) lost the car in aquaplaning but could rejoin after repairs.
“Half points are half points which are definitely better than none, but the conditions were really terrible and I could not even follow the Safety Car. At the end, it got a bit better but it was the right decision,” said Louis Deletraz.
