Formula 3: Lance Stroll confirms a domination with two more wins
The newly crowned FIA Formula 3 European Champion Lance Stroll (Prema Powerteam) didn’t lost a motivation after he secured the title in the previous round at Imola, so he wins both races today at season’s finale at Hockenheimring. Both wins came after starting from the pole position.
In the first race, Stroll had some problems with teammate Maximilian Günther, who took the lead in the opening lap at the hairpin, but Stroll claimed back first place shortly after that. Until the end of the race, Stroll increased the gap to 6.254 seconds. Günther was fighting for P2 against teammate Nick Cassidy, losing the place on lap 1 and taking in back on lap 8. At the end, three Prema Powerteam drivers took three podium places.
The fourth place was also taken by Prema driver, the rookie Ralf Aron. Swede Joel Eriksson (Motopark) maintained his lead in the rookie standings, finishing sixth behind his teammate Sergio Sette Camara.
In the second race, Lance Stroll had a fantastic start and nobody could threat him. After 23 laps at 4.574-km long track, he crossed the finish line 4.727 seconds ahead of Joel Eriksson. The podium was completed by Callum Ilott (Van Amersfoort Racing). Sergio Sette Camara had a good start and he jumped from fifth to second place, but after the stewards checked the video, Camara was penalized for a false start. A drive-through penalty put him back to P17.
