Sven Muller wins 2016 Porsche Supercup title!

  • Sven Muller

Sven Muller is the new Porsche Supercup champion! The driver of Lechner MSG Racing team finished 8th in the final race of the season at Circuit of the Americas what was enough to clinch his maiden Supercup trophy.

Just like in the Saturday’s race, Mathieu Jaminet started from pole position. Matteo Cairoli was behind him while Muller, who needed only one point for the title, started from the 4th place. Jaminet and Cairoli kept their positions after the start while Jeffrey Schmidt moved up to the 3rd position.

Muller looked pretty cautious as he dropped to 8th place after four laps but he definitely had no reason to hurry. At the top of the grid, Cairoli desperately was trying to take the lead but the winner of the Saturday’s race defended well.

Nothing has changed until the end of the race and Muller won the title, his maiden in the Supercup and second in the last two weeks as he earlier also won the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany crown. Jaminet scored his third win of the season, Cairoli had to settle for the 2nd place and vice-champion title while Schmidt was 3rd.
