The rumors have been confirmed : F1’s “super-sub” in 2020 is back. German Nico Hulkenberg will be the reserve driver for Aston Martin and Mercedes this season. Ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix, Hulk confirmed to Austrian TV channel Servus he will complete a duel role this year. Alhtough Hulkenberg has been without a permanent seat on the Formula 1 grid since the 2019 season, he did get the chance to race three times in 2020, though, with Racing Point due to Sergio Perez testing positive for coronavirus and Lance Stroll feeling unwell later in the season.

 

Nico Hulkeberg, who competed in Formula One World Championship between 2010 and 2019, has 178 race starts to his name. The highlight of his career was the victory at Le Mans 24 Hours in 2015 when he was driving as a guest for Porsche factory team. With having all that in mind and also being a hugely popular figure in the paddock and F1 community, many will be thrilled to see Nico Hulkenberg back.
