Guest driver Lucas di Grassi wins Audi Sport TT Cup race at Norisring

The guest driver Lucas di Grassi wins the second race of the Audi Sport TT Cup at Norisring. In the classification of the regular drivers, Joonas Lappalainen scored his first victory this season, ahead of Emil Lindholm and series leader Dennis Marschall.

Dennis Marschall, the winner of Saturday’s race, started from pole and he was on the way to his second consecutive win until the lap 21 of 26, when he lost the lead from Lucas di Grassi. The Audi’s WEC driver and current Formula E championship leader started from fifth place on the grid and make his way through the field by overtaking Joonas Lappalainen and Emil Lindholm. Sheldon van der Linde, who started behind Marschall, crashed out on Lap 3.

After Marschall lost the lead on lap 21, he dropped two more places down during the closing laps. His fourth place overall and third place among regular competitors was enough to remain in the series lead, five points ahead of Lappalainen.

Gosia Rdest, the only female driver in the field, finished in the fifth place, which was her best result this season.

The next round of the Audi Sport TT Cup is scheduled for July 15-17 at Zandvoort.
