The first race of the Audi Sport TT Cup at Nurburgring was red-flagged after the brutal crash of Tommaso Mosca on lap 4.

The Italian driver’s car slid off the road and hit barriers. The car was completely damaged but luckily Mosca was fine and left the car soon after the accident. The Armco barriers were so badly damaged that the race officials decided to abandon the race due to safety reasons.

Earlier in the race Fabian Vettel retired from the race after his car was damaged after the contact with Mosca’s car. However, the race was stopped on lap in the moment when Mikel Azcona led ahead of Philip Ellis and Drew Ridge.

Because less than half of the designated distance of twelve laps had been completed by this point, no classification could be awarded.

The race 2 of Audi Sport TT Cup starts Saturday, 09:55 CET.
