GP3 Series: Russell beats ART Grand Prix teammates to win at Monza

  • George Russell, GP3 Series, Monza

George Russell (ART Grand Prix) wins the GP3 Series race at Autodromo Nazionale Monza in the sixth round of the season. It’s his fourth win of the season which exnteds his lead in the championship standings. It’s also the 1-2-3 victory for ART Grand Prix as Jack Aitken and Anthoine Hubert finished in P2 and P3 respectively. Rain postponed the race from Saturday afternoon to Sunday morning and officials cancelled the second race.

Nirei Fukuzumi was supposed to start at the front of the grid thanks to his fastest time in a practice session because there was no qualifications due to bad weather. But, technical problems prevented him to take part in a race and he stayed in the pits, so his teammate Russell easily converted front-row start into the lead. Other two ART Grand Prix drivers Hubert and Aitken were following Russell.
