Kyle Busch wins in New Hampshire, advances to the Round of 12
Kyle Busch captured his 41st NASCAR Cup Series victory in a career and third win this season in the ISM Connect 300 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. It was the second (of three races) in the Round of 16 of the Playoffs, so Kyle Busch make his way to the Round of 12, next to Martin Truex Jr., who won a week ago at Chicagoland.
It was a dominating win for Busch, who started from pole, led for 187 of 300 laps and took the checkered flag 2.641 seconds ahead of Kyle Larson. It’s the third win for Busch at the 1.058-mile track in Loudon.
Earlier in the race, Martin Truex Jr. won the first stage and then he was a collateral victim in the wreck on lap 150, initiated by Austin Dillon and Kevin Harvick. Kyle Busch survived that wreck to win the second stage under caution. From that point on, Busch was in control, taking a victory which locked him in the Round of 12.
He isn’t the only one who secure a spot in the Round of 12. Kyle Larson and fourth-placed Brad Keselowski also are assured of advancing on points. Eight more spots are free. Drivers under the line ahead of the next race at Dover International Raceway are Austin Dillon, Ryan Newman, Kurt Busch and Kasey Kahne.
