GP3 Series: Maiden victory for Antonio Fuoco
The 20 year old Italian driver of Trident team, Antonio Fuoco, scored his maiden GP3 Series win after being fastest in the sprint race at Silverstone.
The race on wet track quickly went under the virtual safety car. Alex Palou (Racing Engineering) had a great start and took the lead and had a great battle with Charles Leclerc while Fuoco sat at third and waited for his chance.
The Italian did a good job to overtake Leclerc for the second and finally profitted from Palou’s mistake late in the race to take a lead and to win the race for the first time in his career, only 0.4s ahead of Palou and 0.5s ahead of Leclerc.
After six races in 2016, Leclerc heads Drivers’ championship with 86 points, Alexander Albon is second with 84 while Fuoco moved up to third with 74 points on his account.
